Family Adventure Awaits
Our canoe trips are an ideal experience for families, and we’ve hosted family groups ranging from 4 years old to 90 years old. Take the whole family on an adventure of a lifetime. A multi-day trip is the perfect way to connect to nature, unplug from technology and the stresses of life AND give your kiddos a chance to wonder and explore. The Upper Missouri River has incredible and fun hiking options - kids love to scramble around on the rocks, play in the mud, cast a fishing line and watch the stars.
Children 10 or younger receive 10% off the adult trip price.
One night option available!
Are you short on time? Are you kiddos not quite ready for several days of camping? Well, we have the trip for you! We offer a 2 day/1 night trip from Fort Benton to Coal Banks. This adventure offers a chance to experience the beauty of the river, one night of camping along the river bank, wildlife watching and two glorious days of leisurely paddling. “We had an incredible trip with Haley from Upper Missouri River Canoe Guides. All the details-- daily itinerary, delicious food, and wonderful conversations-- were our favorite highlights. It was such a treat to be able to experience the river in this way AND have quality family time without hassle. Would definitely recommend as an epic adventure for families!!”

A few ways we accommodate families:
The Upper Missouri River is rated as a Class One, meaning that it has no whitewater, making it a relatively safe environment.
Our canoes are very stable which minimizes the chances of capsizing
We do provide child-size life-jackets, which all children under 12 are required to wear on Montana's waters.
We have 3 and 4 -seater canoes for families that wish to paddle together or have little ones that wish to nap, enjoy the scenery or can’t paddle the whole time.
Children can also paddle with a guide (lucky!)
Our guides are exceptionally great with kids AND we feel extremely thankful as the younger perspective and wonder never fails to be inspiring and refreshing
Celebrating a birthday? We will bake (yes, bake) a cake on the river and bring candles!
Family-size tents: We have large 4-5 person tents that can easily house your family together. OR, if the kids want their own tent, it can be arranged.
Worried they will get bored? Well, we bring various games along! We have games ranging from cornhole to bocce ball to ring toss and more.
Kid-friendly food options: kids can be picky, so we will make sure there are options they will eat. We ask ahead of time if your little ones have preferences and do our best to make sure they are nourished and happy.
Fishing: kids 11 years and younger are not required to have a Montana fishing license. Feel free to bring a collapsible pole along. Kids can throw a cast out from the bank at camp.
